Bilateral loss of light reflex and accommodation following 360° peripheral retinal laser therapy.

چکیده
We report a case of bilateral loss of pupillary light reflex and accommodation following 360° peripheral retinal laser therapy. A 24 years old male underwent prophylactic laser barrage for peripheral retinal lattice degenerations. Soon after the procedure, he developed bilateral loss of pupillary light reflex and accommodation. The patient faced difficulty while doing near work. On instillation of 0.125% pilocarpine, both pupils demonstrated the phenomenon of denervation supersensitivity. Damage to the short ciliary nerves was the most likely mechanism responsible for this adverse outcome.

Solar Retinopathy Following Methamphetamine Abuse
Purpose: To report a case of solar retinopathy following methamphetamine (MA) abuse. Case report: A 37-years-old man was visited with sudden painless loss of vision in both eyes. He was addicted to methamphetamine for three years. He used MA at the day of admission. Excessive sun gazing (4 hours) took place due to using hallucinations secondary to the MA. Visual acuity was 15/400 Snellen chart ...
متن کاملTHERAPEUTIC EFFECTS OF LASER PHOTOCOAGULATION AND VITRECTOMY IN EALES\'DISEASE
Eales' disease is an idiopathic obliterative retinal vasculopathy that is treated with laser photocoagulation, and/or vitrectomy. In order to determine visual outcomes and regression of retinal neovascularization following scattered peripheral retinal photocoagulation, and/or vitrectomy in cases with Eales' disease, we did a retrospective study of the records of these patients treated in La...

A 21-year-old woman developed simultaneous rhegmatogenous retinal detachment after laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) in both eyes. She underwent pars plana vitrectomy surgery combined with endolaser photocoagulation and silicone oil tamponade in the right eye. A week later, pneumatic retinopexy was done in the left eye. As the retinal tear did not seal, 360° scleral buckling surgery was perf...
متن کاملRuby laser effects on the monkey eye.
Laser pulses of vioderate energy but of large retinal subtense produce significantly different retinal lesions than a clinical type of exposure of high energy density and small retinal subtense. A retinal photocoagulation that leads to a satisfactory retinal adhesion, whether produced by white light or laser, is characterized by sharp boundaries, coagulation necrosis of the entire retinal expos...
متن کاملThe Primate Pupillary Light Reflex: Receptive Field Characteristics of Pretectal Luminance Neurons
This study examined the response properties of luminance neurons found within the pretectal olivary nucleus (PON), which is the pretectal nucleus that mediates the primate pupillary light reflex. We recorded the activity of 121 single-units in alert, behaving rhesus monkeys trained to fixate a back-projected laser spot while a luminance stimulus was presented. The change in the firing rate of l...
